New Zealanders are getting savvy with solar and literally untying themselves from the grid! In recent months we have seen the popularity of hybrid solar energy systems steadily grow. Many solar consumers are choosing smart hybrid inverter systems with battery storage over traditional grid-tied systems.

Store your Energy to Use Later
As we know, solar panels generate the most energy during the day when the sun is shining and when your family tends to use the least energy or have the lowest consumption levels. So, with ongoing increases in energy prices and the continual decrease of the feed-in tariff, how can you optimize the use of your solar energy?
A hybrid solar system allows you to store and consume your solar energy when you need it – like at night when your solar panels are not in use.

New Solar Battery Technology
Many technological advances are being made in the area of hybrid solar, and the latest is a new compact lithium-ion battery storage system from LG. Following the success of the LG Chem RESU 6.4, LG have introduced a new Chem RESU series which is available in three models – 3.3, 6.5 and 10. It is due for release in New Zealand in November 2016.
Features of the New LG Chem RESU Series
The new LG Chem RESU series offers the world’s best energy density, with additional flexibility and advantages for your hybrid installation.
Key features include its compact size, economical pricing, flexibility in sizing and installation and an impressive lifespan. It comes with a 10 year warranty and will last up to 6,000 cycles (up to 16 years).
The LG Chem RESU may be fitted to a new or an existing solar PV system.

Compatibility with the SolaX Hybrid Inverter
SolaX Hybrid Inverter. The intelligent energy system of the SolaX inverter matched with the LG battery, means you can consume up to 80% of the solar power you generate!
Compare this with a standard inverter, where you use as little as 25% of the free energy it generates (the rest is exported to the grid).

Flexible Upgradeable Solar Systems
So the hybrid system sounds like the perfect solar solution… but what if you’ve already installed a grid-tied solar system, or you don’t have the funds available to install a full hybrid system at the moment?
Not to worry, most grid-tied systems can be upgraded to a hybrid solar system at a later date, especially if you choose compatible and upgradeable components. We can help you choose the right system to meet your needs, for now and in the future.
